Music is not just something that you take in with your ears, it is Life and everything that it contains compacted into 3 1/2 minutes of notes and lyrics. It is story telling not with just words, but pitches and tones and an occasional tear." These are just some of the feelings of the band members that form one of the most unique sounds to come around the music scene in decades.

Living in New york seasoned the vocal styling and lyrical rhythms of Matt Heart (lead singer of Purpose) He with co- writer John Davis (lead guitarist and vocalist) together they set out to create one of the most ambitious bands to hit the music scene in recent years. After being a solo artist and opening for acts like Brian Mcknight and Mary J Blige. Matt wanted to broaden his horizons, "I always wanted to be part of a band , it's like family to me." said Matt when interviewed.

After running into John at a local music store, the two hit it off immediately. John, after fronting a country and rock band for the last 5 years, knew that collaborating ith Matt was just what the music industry was looking for. "Matt has soul in his voice and a passionate feel to his lyrics, that with my rock and country background created a very unique sound that is completely our own." says John when interviewed.

TIMELINE

1996 Matt Heart has a semi successful solo career and opens for Brian Mcknight and Mary J Blige.

1996 John Davis starts Desert Wind and tours for 5yrs in support of the album Come to Far.

2001 Matt Heart writes and produces a song for the "Spiderman Movie" and meets with Mr Ritchie and the Marvel Staff at Marvel Enterprises in New York.

2002 Matt Heart and John Davis Meet to collaborate on a song for the "Daredevil movie" Matt Heart also wrote and produced a song for " The Hulk Movie" at this time.

2003 Matt Heart and John Davis decide to blend their musical influences together and create the band PURPOSE

2004 Purpose starts writing and recording songs for the album Eve of Temptation.

Aug 12, 2005 After many 3 and 4 star reviews Purpose releases their album to the public.

December 2005 Purpose is Nominated for Best Alternative band & Best Neo Soul Performer at the LosAngeles BMA'S and is slated to perform on the show.

Feb 11th 2006 Purpose WINS Best Alternative Band at the BMA'S (Black Music Awards)

March 2006 City of Toledo, Mayor Carty Finkbeiner, awards Purpose with a Proclamation Letter.
