Where are you originally from? VB.
Where do you live now?VB.
How and when did you start surfing? I was riding around the neighborhood when I was a grommie and this horrible, yellow fish at a yard sale. I remember trying to ride home carrying that thing! After that, I paddle a couple times and walked into a local shop to purchase a new one on a different shape. Trial and Error!
Who were you surfing with at first? Some kids who I raced BMX with. To this day, out of the original crew, I am the only one that stuck with it!
Who were some early influences on your surfing? We also had a couple of
really good friends. They
were surfing really good when we were young and were a couple of years
older than us, so we always looked up to their surfing.
Who do you usually surf with now?Whoever, some queer Jon when he has time to get in the water. But really, I don't really have a personal preference. I generally go solo!
Do you enjoy surfing in contests?I used to. I don't think they're bad, but I don't do them anymore.
How could contests be improved? It shouldn't matter how many waves you catch or if you catch good
waves, you should just be judged on your surfing--who looks the best
and surfs the best.
What is good about being a local surfer?Being able to surf every day.
What is bad about being a local surfer?Buoys! Tourist season is insane! But then again, isn't it everywhere?
Name your favorite surf movie.September Sessions.
What kind of board do you ride?I ride HIC boards shaped by Lynn Shell, like 5' 10" fishes.
How did you get on DEMink?I asked Jeremy and Kenny if they would sponsor me.
What do you like about DEMink?Everything! They're such an underground company. They make insane clothing, and they do a ton of local events for hype!
What is good about surfing in general? The good thing about surfing in general is that it's different every
day. The ocean has something different for you-- that's why it's never
boring.
What is bad about surfing in general?Helmet rash! I don't know. There's not whole lot bad about
it, except for when you have to surf in a crowd, or something like that.
Have you ever been bit or stung in the water?I've been stung by jellyfish--that's about it. One time on a trip, I got stung really bad.
Have you ever been the subject or perpetrator of localism? No comment!
Where is a good place to eat?Timber Hearth Grille, located at the Mountain Course Clubhouse in Vail.
The one question we have to ask... Who is the lucky girl or is there one?
I'll find her one day!
Tell us something about you many may not know.
I am so likable that I am lovable. I can make you laugh and think at
the same time. My presentation skills are so excellent, that you're
compelled to listen. I have learned that by giving one you receive ten. I look at
it as returning some of what you owe for the blessings you have
received!
Where on Earth are the best waves?
I don't know. Indonesia.
That's what every single person says. What is you favorite quote of all time?"If you run into a brick wall,
Dig under, Go around it or bust throught it,
But NEVER let it stop you"
What have been the highlights of your career?I don't think I really have one. It's just been one big frickin' party.
What do you enjoy besides surfing?Besides surfing, I enjoy...
Long walks on the beach. No really, any thing with my daughter! Running around and playing tag with her! Nothing feels better than to have her run at me with open arms and a smile yelling "DADDY". Being a dad, Road
trips, Being spontaneous, Flip flops, High thread count sheets, Good wine and good friends, Architecture, A good challenge, Taking risks, Snowboarding, Martial Arts,.... Did I mention snowboarding?
What are your future goals in surfing, and in general? To keep having fun at it and do it as long as I can. I am a single parent so things are kinda rough! Just keep setting goals and aiming high. Use money to make money! Invest in as much as I can while still young so that my daughter will have a secure future! As long as my daughter has a smile on her face and has everything she needs, I am happy!
